This photograph, taken in the early 20th century, showcases the traditional Scottish clan costume of the Drummond family. The Drummond Clan, one of the oldest and most distinguished Highland clans of Scotland, is represented here by a proud and noble figure dressed in the full regalia of his ancestral heritage. The Drummond tartan, a rich and intricate pattern of red, black, and gold, is prominently displayed in the kilt worn by the man in the image. The kilt is accessorized with a sporran, a traditional Scottish pouch worn at the waist, and a sgian-dubh, a small, decorative knife worn in the hose. The man also wears a plaid, a large square of fabric draped over the left shoulder and fastened at the right shoulder, which is a signature element of Scottish Highland dress. The Drummond Clan crest, featuring a stag's head and the motto "Ich Draum," which translates to "I Dream," is emblazoned on the man's bonnet, or tam-o'-shanter.
