Measuring 54.5 x 64.5 cm, this masterpiece is housed in the Museo degli Argenti at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Italy. Commissioned by Grand Duke Cosimo II de Medici in 1617 and completed after his death, this panel serves as a votive offering to Saint Charles Borromeo, a revered saint known for his ability to heal sicknesses. The image portrays the duke dressed regally and kneeling in prayer before Saint Charles Borromeo. Although the original gold altar was melted down during political upheaval in 1789, this remarkable panel survived intact and was later mounted within its current frame.
